Review Odylique Lemongrass Body Wash and Ultra Rich Balm
Odylique have been in my life for many years ever since I was introduced to the Gentle Herb Shampoo. Before I found this shampoo I was battling eczema and an itchy scalp, it changed all that within a week and I've been banging on about it ever since. Odylique is a family run business set up by Abi and Margaret. I've had the pleasure of meeting and working with Abi over the years and her knowledge of ingredients and formulations is inspiring. I choose Odylique not only for their products but they understand skin conditions such as eczema and formulate without lanolin, wheat, dairy and soya derivatives, salicylic acid, peanut oil, common allergen tree nut oils and more.
In our shower at the moment is the Odylique Lemongrass Hand & Body Wash. I had strategically placed it in there for my husband to use not realising that it was free from linalool and also suitable for me. This body wash is formulated without sulphates, suitable for vegans and Odylique's packaging is made from recycled milk bottles. The lemongrass scent is zingy and powerful, flooding the bathroom with aroma which lingers long after your shower. In the past I've always used Odylique Aloe Vera body wash but it's very nice to switch it up and have a zesty fragrance when showering. I use this shower gel with my Konjac bath sponge and that helps achieve lovely gentle foam which is easy to massage across the body. I do not find this shower gel drying or irritating on my skin.
I like the simple ingredient list for Odylique Ultra Balm - olive oil, shea butter, coconut oil, beeswax and sea buckthorn - each one will have been chosen for their unique skin care properties. In recent years I have taken a vegan approach with my skincare, removing beeswax and honey however not everyone has the same beliefs. I would rather use a product than waste it so for that reason I am comfortable reviewing the Ultra Balm. I know Odylique have high standards when sourcing ingredients. They are a cruelty free company using trusted suppliers who don’t practice unethical or cruel methods of farming. Organic beeswax and honey have been praised for boosting the local bee population. Odylique would never use a bi-product from dead animals and that's an important ethos for me.
I have previously used the Odylique Ultra Rich Balm and often recommend to people prone to eczema but a review is certainly long overdue. This balm is an emollient which can be used anywhere on the body, perfect for dry skin and protecting against the wintry weather. I like to apply to sore, irritate skin whether that's from eczema flare ups or my nose as I recently was ill with a cold. It's the buttery soft texture that wins me over making it easy to apply without dragging across skin and a little goes a long way. From my experience there are too many solid balms on the market which I personally think are almost impossible to use on delicate skin. Anyone with a skin condition probably understands that painful sensation and the heat associated with flare ups. Trying to apply products can often feel incredibly uncomfortable but we need to treat the skin to regain control. That's when the soft texture of Ultra Rich balm plays an important role in skin management.
I find it very difficult to fault Odylique so I encourage you to explore their website and give products a try for yourself, hopefully you will like them as much as I do.
